I painted this one close to New Year’s Eve even though the reference was from the Fourth of July fireworks a couple years ago while camping in New Hampshire in the White Mountains. I wanted to capture that glow in the sky, as well as the atmospheric quality of the drifting smoke left over after the explosions. I hope it brings a sense of wonder and familiarity to the viewer.
I am happy to be offering these paintings as part of a fundraiser, to raise money to donate to a student in need. I hope to be A Light in the Darkness for someone who is trying to make their lives and the world a better place by gaining an education. I believe that offering opportunities for education can have a great impact and bring light into the world. So, I am donating 20% of all sales from this collection to a student in need. In 2024 I was able to pay the full tuition for a young woman, a Haitian refugee, so she could earn her CNA. Let’s see if we can do even better this year!
